Masonic Village Home Health, Hospice and Home Care is hiring a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. This is a Full Time Day opportunity.

What You'll Do:

As a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, you will carry out our Mission of Love by providing direction, coordination and consultation for the hospice volunteer program.  Volunteer program management encompasses recruitment, education, retention, nurturing and evaluation.  Our Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the following:

    • Recruit, interview, screen, train and assign volunteers in appropriate capacities in order to meet the hospice volunteer requirements according to the Medicare Conditions of Participation and to enhance the hospice program. 
    • Document active and ongoing efforts to recruit and retain hospice volunteers.  This documentation should include evidence such as advertisements, bulletins or flyers.
    • Ensure that all volunteers receive a thorough orientation before being assigned to a patient/family in the following areas:
      • The duties and responsibilities of the volunteer
      • To whom the volunteer reports
      • The person to contact if assistance is needed
      • Hospice goals, services and philosophy
      • Confidentiality and protection of the patient's and family's rights
      • Abuse
      • Documentation
      • Family dynamics
      • Signs of end of life
      • Procedures to follow in an emergency or following the death of a patient
      • Infection control
    • Provide on-going trainings on and off campus on appropriate topics such as: confidentiality, dementia, abuse, death & dying, infection control.  These training range from one on one sessions to large groups.  Attendance at all in services (including orientation) shall be maintained in the volunteer's file.
    • Recognize the value of volunteers and design and implement recognition, retention and motivation programs in order to nurture and retain volunteers.
    • In accordance with Medicare hospice regulations, document and maintain a volunteer staff sufficient to provide administrative or direct patient care hours in an amount that, at a minimum, equals five percent of the total patient care hours of all paid hospice employees.  This data will be composed and analyzed monthly.  Document and analyze monthly the cost savings achieved through the use of volunteers by position. 
    • Demonstrates proficiency in the Medicare Conditions of Participation regarding hospice volunteers.


What You Definitely Have:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with concentration in communications, public relations, or social services. 
  • Three years' experience in volunteer administration in a geriatric or medical setting (preferred).
  • Personal computer experience required. Must be proficient with Microsoft office products.  
  • Maintains a current PA driver' s license and insurance on personal vehicle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
